The Cleveland Browns are still searching for their starting quarterback for Week 1 of the NFL season kicking off in September. Four quarterbacks are in active competition, though several clues suggest one has the edge – and to the disappointment of many, it’s not Shedeur Sanders.

There’s a certain preference for the more veteran players in the quarterback room, and recently, the Quarterbacks Coach shared a specific detail that puts Joe Flacco ahead of the rest.

Joe Flacco’s Strength at Age 40

It was Bill Musgrave, the quarterbacks coach, who offered candid remarks about the group he leads within the Browns. He highlighted Joe Flacco’s physical attributes and arm strength as standout qualities.

“Joe’s been great because he leads by example. Also, when Joe speaks, people listen,” Musgrave said in an interview with the team. “He’s got incredible credibility and history,” he added.

And of course, Flacco’s physical condition continues to make him a unique player: “He’s a 6’6 flamethrower back there, so he can see things that the rest of us, mere mortals – you know, and common field mice – cannot see.”

Musgrave’s comments come as the Cleveland Browns OTAs unfold, where Flacco, alongside Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel, are competing for the starting quarterback role.

Bill Musgrave talks QB Room | Cleveland Browns Daily

For many NFL experts, the former Baltimore Ravens QB is the frontrunner to claim the position, though Kenny Pickett could also take it. Fortunately for the rookies, there’s a possibility the team’s plan is to give as many snaps as possible to the younger players.

There’s even talk that after a few weeks, Shedeur Sanders could take on the starting role, though anything can happen. For now, there’s no final verdict, so we’ll have to wait until Week 1 to find out.
