Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump over his criticism of Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl Halftime Show, which Trump called “disgusting” and one of the worst ever.

The Grammy-winning artist faced backlash since his performance was initially announced, with his selection becoming a polarizing topic in America.

While Trump, who described the choice of performer as un-American and continued to lash out at Bad Bunny following his show, Kimmel – one of the president’s most vocal and regular critics – did not hold back in defending the Puerto Rican performer during the Feb. 9 edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“Bad Bunny got a bad review from our bad president, unfortunately,” Kimmel said.

“He wrote, ‘The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever. It makes no sense. It’s an affront to the greatness of America and doesn’t represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A and around the world.'”

Then referencing the Stormy Daniels scandal, Kimmel added, “This is a man who paid off a porn star who spanked him with his own face on a magazine.”

Trump rails against NFL and Bad Bunny

In addition to posting about Bad Bunny on Truth Social during Sunday’s showpiece event, Trump also complained about the NFL’s new kickoff rule, which the president described as “ridiculous.”

Prior to the Super Bowl, Trump expressed skepticism about Bad Bunny appearing at the halftime show. Speaking on Greg Kelly Reports, he said, “I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

As Trump’s personal disapproval became a culture war issue, an alternative halftime performance was broadcast at the same time. Turning Point USA produced the All-American Halftime Show, featuring Kid Rock as the headliner.

The event was broadcast simultaneously with Bad Bunny‘s performance, offering viewers a different option for the halftime entertainment experience.

Turning Point’s show reporedly garnered over five million viewers. While official viewer figures for Bad Bunny’s performance have not been announced, it is expected to be over 100 million.
