The Dallas Cowboys always have millions of eyes on their every move. It comes with the territory of being “America’s Team“. For Jerry Jones, that’s great because it means his franchise continues to have incredible brand recognition. But it also means that every poor move of his within the organization becomes amplified.

Following a cautious approach to free agency, Jones and his front office now have pressure on them to deliver in the 2025 NFL Draft. Dallas has drafted relatively well over the years, but the current roster is begging for more talent, particularly on the offensive side of the ball following a defense-heavy approach to free agency. Given their moves this offseason, there’s no sugar-coating what Jones’ front office wants to do in the draft.

Dallas Cowboys eyeing Matthew Golden and Tetairoa McMillan in 2025 NFL Draft

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini dropped intel on the draft plans of several NFL teams on Wednesday. In her report, she revealed that the Cowboys essentially have only one plan for the first round: draft a weapon for Dak Prescott.

Many sources around the league expect the Cowboys to target an offensive skill position with the No. 12 pick. Texas WR Matthew Golden and Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan are names that I’m hearing could interest Dallas.

That’s practically been the plan ever since the first and second wave of free agency ended. The Cowboys-Matthew Golden link has been strong ever since the speedster blazed a fast 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. The Cowboys need an explosive No. 2 receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb.

Tetairoa McMillan doesn’t necessarily qualify as “explosive”, but he’s a Top 10 talent and Dallas would likely jump all over him if he falls to 12th overall. The 6-foot-5 wideout was extremely productive despite middling quarterback play at Arizona. If McMillan or Ashton Jeanty fall to that Cowboys pick, Jones would probably be ecstatic to get either one.
