German Berterame is one of Javier Aguirre’s options to take as a striker with the Mexican national team for the 2026 World Cup.
With Raul Jimenez and Santiago Gimenez as the two main options in attack, Berterame, Julian Quinones and Armando Gonzalez are the other possibilities to be the third number nine.
Berterame’s arrival at Inter Miami would complicate the final stretch
But Berte is close to being transferred from Rayados to Inter Miami and this could complicate his availability in the final training camp. Liga MX will release the players a month before so that they can work with Javier Aguirre and the Argentinean-born player could miss this possibility.
“I spoke to him, he is in that transfer process. I am concerned about the people who, when we start the final concentration, have work with their team. We will try to bring as many players as we can, I understand that it will be difficult.
“We have it planned. The fact that German went abroad is part of the dynamic game, there is another one too, I will not say the name, who is looking for his option in Europe. We will go individually seeing with the coaches or owners of the teams, the managers, if they willingly facilitate it. We have it contemplated, we have the work plan, we will help ourselves with young people, U-20, U-23… I’m not worried, he’s also calm,” said Aguirre in the press conference prior to the match against Panama on Thursday.
Javier Mascherano avoids talking about Berterame
Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami coach, did not want to talk about German Berterame and added that he is satisfied with the signings the team has made.
We are happy with the signings the club has made, I think it has worked very well in the making of the squad.
“I speak about the players who work with me day by day and those who are here, the rumors that may be talked about and nothing that is official, first out of respect for my players, second out of respect for the player who is being talked about and the club in which he is”.
