What a start to the season for the Dallas Cowboys at home! In overtime, a field goal by Brandon Aubrey allowed them to edge out the New York Giants 40-37 in a thrilling matchup, earning their first win of the season after falling in Week 1 on the road against the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brandon Aubrey clearly showed why he is currently the best kicker in the NFL. The Cowboys’ kicker nailed a 64-yard field goal with no time left on the clock in the fourth quarter to tie the game. The moment was so remarkable that if he had attempted a 70-yarder, he probably would have made it too.

Dak Prescott also confirmed his strong start to the season. Despite throwing one interception, he finished the game with 361 passing yards and two touchdowns. CeeDee Lamb had 9 receptions for 112 yards, making crucial catches at key moments in the game.

The true standout of this game, however, was Javonte Williams

During the Cowboys’ preseason, many criticized the team’s running game as a major weakness-and yes, last season they were the worst. While there were reasons to think that way, Javonte Williams has had a spectacular start to the 2025 season.

Against the New York Giants, Williams had a solid performance: 18 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown on a 30-yard run. He also contributed in the passing game with six receptions for 33 yards. The former Denver Broncos running back already has three touchdowns in just two weeks this season. Williams’ success is also a testament to the excellent work of the Cowboys’ offensive line.

No one is expecting much from the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, yet they’ve already done the most important thing: they beat the New York Giants to secure their first win of the season. In addition, they looked good in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. These Cowboys are shaping up to be exciting, and next week they visit the Chicago Bears, who have had a rough start.
