The two semi-finals of the 2025 Leagues Cup have been defined and for the second consecutive edition of this tournament, which is contested by clubs from Liga MX and Major League Soccer (MLS), no Mexican soccer team has reached the semi-finals. Since all 18 clubs from Mexico have participated, only Monterrey in 2023 reached the ‘Final Four’.
In this edition, the new format included the rule that in the quarter-finals the four matches included a duel between a Liga MX team and an MLS rival and this time in the four instances, the team representing United States eliminated the team from Mexico.
In the first instance, Inter Miami, despite not having the injured Argentine star Lionel Messi, defeated Tigres UANL by a score of 2-1. Later, Orlando City drew goalless with Toluca, but the ‘Mickey Mouse City’ team won on penalties. The same fate occurred when the Seattle Sounders overcame Puebla. Finally, LA Galaxy was forceful and defeated Pachuca by a score of 2-1.
