Good news for Los Angeles Rams fans, as quarterback Matthew Stafford has returned to practice after missing most of preseason camp due to back discomfort.
Confirmation of his return came via a video shared by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, in which the veteran quarterback is seen dressed in his uniform and ready for field practice.
Stafford ready for return with Los Angeles Rams
Stafford’s return to practice represents a key step for the team, as the start of the NFL regular season is just a few weeks away. Although it had been speculated that he might return last week, the quarterback preferred to wait until he felt completely ready.
Head coach Sean McVay had indicated that he would not speak about Stafford’s physical condition until the beginning of this week, which generated uncertainty about his availability. However, with his return to practice, it seems that the doubts have been put to rest, which is more than positive news for the Los Angeles Rams
Rams excited about revamped offense
Stafford’s presence is key for a team looking to repeat its strong performance from last year, when they reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Although the Rams lost Cooper Kupp, they have bolstered their offense with the addition of Davante Adams, who along with Puka Nacua will form a difficult receiving duo for any defense to stop.
Defensively, the Rams also have reason to be confident as linebacker Jared Verse, who is entering his second year, promises to continue to grow and become a key figure for the team’s defensive unit.
Stafford’s injury history
However, given Matthew Stafford‘s long injury history, Rams fans will have to keep their expectations in check to see their quarterback as a starter all season long.
To ensure this, the Rams will need to continue to manage his workload with caution. Despite remaining relatively healthy during last season, the team has taken a conservative stance regarding his participation in intense practices.
