The New York Giants are being cautious with Jaxson Dart’s future. Now that they have John Harbaugh as head coach, the team is carefully weighing its offensive coordinator candidates; the problem is that fans disagree with both of the finalists.

The 2025 NFL season taught the Giants some valuable lessons. The first was that Mike Kafka wasn’t the offensive coordinator Dart needed, so they parted ways with him at the end of the season.

After a few weeks, the front office narrowed its list of candidates down to just two finalists:

“Source: Former Titans head coach Brian Callahan and former Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury are involved in the Giants’ initial OC search. New York plans to or has talked to them,” reported ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler.

However, fans were quick to express their disagreement with both options.

Fans don’t trust Callahan or Kingsbury

As soon as Fowler’s report was published, Giants fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their disapproval of both candidates, with comments like these:

  • “Neither of them if we want to be a serious team.”
  • “If y’all hire Callahan, Dart is COOKED.”
  • “I’m so sorry, Giants fans, if you have to experience Brian Callahan as your OC.”
  • “Wait… we’re upgrading from chaos to… more chaos?”
  • “I know the Bengals offense was sick with Callahan but was he actually that good of an OC?
  • “Have a feeling it will be Brian Callahan, even though I’d like Kliff see what he can do with Dart. Callahan, I feel could be like Garrett was to Jones. Just my opinion, of course.”

The comments make it clear that the fans’ priority is Jaxson Dart’s development, and they don’t believe either Callahan or Kingsbury have what it takes for the job.

Who did the Giants rule out as their OC?

New York considered Todd Monken as their new offensive coordinator. However, the Cleveland Browns beat them to it, naming him their new head coach.

Press reports indicate that the front office also spoke with the Colts’ pass play coordinator, Alex Tanney, and the Chargers’ quarterbacks coach, Shane Day.

The Giants are expected to announce their final decision in the coming days, having already interviewed all the candidates on their shortlist.
