Former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel has referred to Bill Belichick as a “hypocrite“addressing the veteran coach’s controversial relationship with Jordon Hudson, his 24-year-old partner.
The couple, who have been under heavy scrutiny since they got together, adds another layer of criticism to a saga that has already divided public opinion.
Why did he say that?
Samuel talked to TMZ and while he was having fun at his old coach’s expense, he also commented on how Belichick used to tell his players to avoid family distractions and any other situations that could take their minds off the field. Now, Belichick himself is the one facing these issues.
Coach is being a hypocrite, man. He’s been a hypocrite the way he’s carrying on. He told us to stay off and not have family distractions and things like that.
Known for his “Do Your Job” mantra, the current UNC’s head coach emphasized that players should keep their mental focus on the game instead of the things happening outside the field.
Coach got all this stuff going on! Coach, where did this come from? Why weren’t we able to enjoy ourselves like this now that you want to enjoy yourself!
The real importance of life
Behind his funny regarding the entire Belichick-Hudson situation, Samuel wanted to remark what he sees as the final purpose of life: happiness. He made sure to claim that, at the end of the day, Belichick should do what really makes him happy, and if that is living his life on his own terms he should go with it.
Whatever that looks like, just be happy. Find happiness. If it’s gonna be a little embarrassing, and you don’t mind, the other person doesn’t mind, and y’all are happy together and it’s authentic, I mean, go with it
Acknowledging that Belichick’s relationship with Hudson is just their own business shows how Samuel is living his current life outside of football. Everybody should be free to do what they desire as long as it does not affect others, and in a relationship like that – surrounded by constant media scrutiny – the must remain strong.
