Any unsuspecting fantasy manager might see the Eagles as a poisoned chalice. It’s a trap wrapped in the green helmet and silver wings.
Dallas Goedert appears in multiple rankings as a low TE1, with projection as a starter in PPR leagues. He has been, in previous seasons, a stalwart in the Philadelphia Eagles offense. His combination of size, speed and ball-catching ability made him an attractive option for Jalen Hurts. However, recent numbers, changes in the offensive scheme and ball distribution indicate that his impact in Fantasy Football could diminish this year.
What the Fantasy Football 2025 cheat sheet says
- The cheat sheet, prepared by specialized analysts such as those at PFF (Pro Football Focus), warns that Dallas Goedert is not among the tight ends with the highest value in relation to his ADP (Average Draft Position). In many mock drafts he is being selected in the top eight at his position, but the data suggests that he does not offer the performance to justify that investment.
- Goedert had less than 45 yards per game and only three touchdowns all year. These statistics put him below other tight ends with less reputation but greater volume and prominence in their offenses, such as Sam LaPorta, Pat Freiermuth or Jake Ferguson.
Dallas Goedert is a Fantasy Football trap
When we talk about a “deceptive” player in Fantasy Football, we are referring to those who seem safe but offer little real value compared to the price paid for them in the draft. Dallas Goedert falls into this category for several reasons:
- Inconsistent volume: He has productive weeks, but also disappears in key games.
- Internal competition: Brown and Smith remain the first choices.
- Few opportunities in the red zone: Philadelphia’s offense prioritizes other weapons near the touchdown.
What to do if Dallas Goedert is still available in your draft?
If you reach the middle rounds and Goedert is still on the board, evaluate carefully. It’s not that he’s useless, but his potential is limited compared to his average draft cost. Instead of gambling on Goedert as your TE1, consider these options:
- Dalton Kincaid (Bills): With more prominence projected in 2025.
- Evan Engram (Jaguars): Consistent and with good chemistry with Trevor Lawrence.
- Jake Ferguson (Cowboys): He broke expectations last year and established himself as a starter.
Dallas Goedert is a great player in the NFL, but that doesn’t always translate into success for Fantasy Football. Before you rush to select him based on his reputation, check your cheat sheet, analyze the offensive context of his team and consider whether he is really the best value available in that round.
