Even though doctors have given him the all-clear and Shohei Ohtani is, on paper, in prime condition to return to the field, the Asian’s control has been a problem and his ERA has soared to 4.65. He has yet to pick up his first win, despite striking out 35 in more than 27 innings pitched. To make matters worse, Shohei Ohtani’s latest disaster was against the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are currently the worst team in the league, but their offense rocked the Dodgers star. The Dodgers lost their game against the Rockies by a final score of 8-3, and Ohtani allowed five earned runs. The pitcher lasted only four innings and allowed nine hits with just three strikeouts.

Fans are hopeful that their star will return to the level that brought him to this league and which they have enjoyed in previous seasons. However, the question has arisen as to whether Ohtani is currently on track to maintain his MVP form for the season.

Kyle Schwarber, the fan favorite

In the midst of all the controversy surrounding the Japanese, one name that has gained momentum is that of the Phillies player Kyle Schwarber, who has been just as good. He has one extra home run, and fans cannot accept that Ohtani’s low efficiency gives him the chance to win the MVP.

“Kyle Schwarber has a 0.00 ERA and more home runs. He’s EASILY the MVP”, wrote one fan.

“That’s why Kyle Schwarber is better,” added another fan.

“Schwarber, MVP. Sorry, but if your pitching gives you credit to win the MVP, it should also discredit you if you pitch like Kirby and Gilbert as visitors,” wrote another fan.

Shohei Ohtani may be struggling with his pitching, but his offensive prowess has been incredible. Ohtani has a .285 batting average with 44 home runs. While several Dodgers players are in a slump, Ohtani’s performance has been consistent.
