The Cleveland Browns are facing mounting criticism after what many are calling a baffling approach to their quarterback situation.

Despite having a crowded QB room that includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel, rumors are swirling that the organization could already be eyeing another quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The possibility has prompted outcry from fans and analysts alike, some of whom are demanding the dismissal of head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry if such a scenario unfolds.

QB carousel raises questions of competence

During training camp, Stefanski has insisted that the starting quarterback position is an open competition. Yet early reports suggest Shedeur Sanders, who many viewed as a promising dual-threat quarterback from Colorado, is getting fewer reps with the first team.

Meanwhile, Flacco, Pickett, and third-round pick Dillon Gabriel are seeing more action under center.

This imbalance is alarming for fans who believed Sanders could become the team’s quarterback of the future.

Making matters worse, whispers from within the organization suggest the Browns are already preparing to take yet another quarterback in the first round of the 2026 draft. Names like Arch Manning, Garrett Nussmeier, Cade Klubnik, and LeNorris Sellers have already been floated as targets.

That’s where analyst Bigsnackks drew the line. On a recent podcast appearance, he didn’t mince words: “Around this draft and this draft class, this front office has made a mockery of NFL football. If they are going in the direction that everybody thinks they are going, in the direction of looking for and looking forward to those first-round picks and taking QB in the first round of 2026 NFL draft, then Kevin Stefanski and the GM need to be fired because this is a wasted draft class if that’s the case.”

The Browns used five total picks to bring in three quarterbacks this offseason: a third-rounder for Gabriel, a fifth-rounder plus a trade-up to get Shedeur Sanders, and another fifth-round pick to acquire Pickett.

For many, the strategy appears disjointed and short-sighted.

Bigsnackks went on to argue that Shedeur Sanders is the most talented quarterback from the 2025 draft class, regardless of draft position, and he’s a natural fit for Stefanski‘s system, which mirrors much of what Sanders ran at Colorado.

“They already got the best QB in this class and they’re not even giving him a shot. That’s not just bad development, that’s poor leadership,” they said.

Critics contend the Browns should have used those draft assets to surround their quarterbacks with talent, whether that be improved offensive line protection or skilled weapons. Instead, they’ve created a logjam at the most important position on the field, with no clear direction.

Cleveland’s quarterback strategy feels less like a plan and more like a panic move. Carrying four quarterbacks into the season is extremely rare in today’s NFL, and cutting one, especially a rookie, could send the wrong message to fans and future draftees.

If the Browns front office truly intends to take another quarterback in 2026, many believe it signals that the franchise has no real plan and even less faith in its scouting and player development.

And for fans who’ve endured years of instability under center, that’s a scenario that’s becoming harder and harder to forgive.
