Los Angeles Lakers, like the rest of the NBA franchises, have resumed preseason training this week. The team will play its first friendly games this weekend against the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors, before the official start of the competition, scheduled for October 21.
One of the most talked-about issues of the summer has been Luka Doncic‘s physical transformation, as he has been singled out on several occasions since his arrival in the league for his alleged excess weight.
Lakers coach JJ Redick spoke on the matter during the third workout session. Without mentioning him explicitly, he hinted that his words were aimed at the Slovenian star. The coach concluded his inaugural campaign by instructing his team to get in “championship shape” during the preseason, and the drills only reinforce that idea.
“It’s not just about physical fitness, it’s also about mental fitness. Both are very important. We’re putting it into practice. It’s been great. Everyone is in very good shape. Everyone is running a lot, so so far it’s gone very well,” said Doncic.
Even so, Doncic was seen this week in his car buying food at the fast food chain In-N-Out Burger, one of the most popular in the state of California. The images have gone viral and have revived criticism on social networks towards the player.
