Athlete relationships often run deeper-and more complicated-than fans imagine. That’s certainly the case with NFL stars Denzel Ward and Ja’Marr Chase, who were recently spotted enjoying Paris Fashion Week together, only to swap pointed social media jabs shortly after.

From Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, to Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, to Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, sports history is filled with legendary “frenemies”-a mix of camaraderie and rivalry. The NFL is no exception. Think Brett Favre and Warren Sapp, or Darrelle Revis and Randy Moss.

In today’s league, Ward, the lockdown corner for the Cleveland Browns, and Chase, the explosive Cincinnati Bengals wideout, are taking that tradition to haute-couture levels.

Ward’s Message: Suit Up… Then Square Up

After attending events together at Paris Fashion Week 2025, Ward wasted no time shifting from fashion to football. Upon returning home, he posted a pointed message to Chase on social media:

“Our time will come. Frenemies. I’ll see you on the field. @Real10jayy_.”

Chase has yet to respond, but the line between designer suits and game-day jerseys is clearly drawn. With both players occupying opposing positions-and playing for heated division rivals-their relationship turns from stylish to serious once the pads go on.

Clash of the titans: Twice in one season

This year’s NFL schedule offers the perfect setup for drama. The Browns and Bengals will open and close their regular seasons against each other:

  • Week 1: Bengals at Browns – Huntington Bank Stadium
  • Week 17: Browns at Bengals – Paycor Stadium

With emotions running high and social media already buzzing, fans won’t just be tuning in for the touchdowns-they’ll be watching every snap, every stare-down, and every post.
