After six seasons with the New York Giants, a new era began for Daniel Jones as an NFL quarterback out of Duke. The veteran beat out Anthony Richardson in the preseason and started as the Indianapolis Colts’ QB1 in Week 1, doing so in spectacular fashion-his performance was even historic.

The Colts crushed the Miami Dolphins 33-8, and Daniel Jones scored three total touchdowns-one through the air and two on the ground. He also threw for 272 yards, had no interceptions, and finished with a passer rating of 115.9. As for the historic note, Jones became the first quarterback in history to put points on the board in all seven offensive drives he led.

With this performance, Daniel Jones has earned the benefit of the doubt, especially since many fans were unhappy that he was named the starter over Anthony Richardson, who just a couple of years ago was the Colts’ first-round pick.

Daniel Jones spoke to the media

While Daniel Jones was shining with the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Giants were a complete disaster against the Washington Commanders. They didn’t score a single touchdown and were crushed 21-6.

Daniel Jones is smiling again, and it seems his confidence will be sky-high heading into the Colts’ upcoming games. He now prepares for next Sunday, when visiting the Denver Broncos will be very tough given their strong defense.

“It felt good to get a win, for sure,” Jones said about his debut victory with Indianapolis. “I think we played well as a team. It’s a good start. I think we feel good about the start. But I think everyone on our team is mature enough to know we have to continue to grow and improve, and I think that’s the mindset of our team now.”

With this, the Indianapolis Colts have sent a signal that they’re ready to compete for the AFC South alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans, and the Tennessee Titans.
