In Dallas, the possibility of Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant joining the Mavericks to team up with newly acquired youngster Cooper Flag is already being explored. In that sense, the Mavs will have to trade for a superstar, as letting KD go isn’t an easy task for the Arizona team.

With another injury-plagued season that kept the Mavs out of the Play-In, fans and management are already thinking about the future. And while the addition of Cooper Flagg will excite fans, there’s another name that has teams perplexed.

Why are the Mavericks so interested in Kevin Durant?

If assigned to the right team, Kevin Durant is a magnet for success for any franchise. Dallas would gain a more complete roster if the proposed deal is agreed to. They would add a defensive-minded point guard like Ryan Dunn, and Durant would allow Cooper Flagg to play his natural position and acclimate to the NBA.

Which superstar would Dallas trade to get Kevin Durant?

The answer is Anthony Davis-that’s right, LeBron James’ former Lakers teammate who joined the Mavericks to try to replace Luka Donic’s star power. AD paired with Devin Booker in Phoenix could be a very interesting duo, a key figure in helping the Suns regain the balance they lost long ago.

Anthony Davis has spent the last few years out of position in Los Angeles. But with Dallas, that problem doesn’t have to exist. Flagg can still play the 3. And with Daniel Gafford and Derek Lively at the centers, Davis can operate in his natural position.
