After a disappointing season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce shifted focus off the field – but their latest venture is now facing heavy backlash far from the gridiron.

The two NFL stars opened their upscale steakhouse, 1587 Prime, in Kansas City in September 2025. Now, the restaurant is under fire after a viral video exploded across social media, putting its fine dining experience, service, and high prices under scrutiny.

What the viral video says about Mahomes and Kelce’s steakhouse

The video, posted by Nicole Rose (@knicnaks), has already surpassed 607,000 views and 46,600 likes. In it, she details why she believes the restaurant is simply not worth it.

“I went on Thursday night and it was the worst fine dining experience I’ve ever had,” Rose said.

She described waiting up to 45 minutes just to receive the correct drinks, adding that the service felt disorganized and inattentive. “It was another 25 minutes before this man showed up… This was a $33 martini that arrived 45 minutes after we sat down.”

The situation worsened when Rose cut into her $100 steak and found it overcooked. She said she couldn’t even complain because “it was impossible to find the waiter.”

While she labeled the broccolini and mashed potatoes as “acceptable,” she added sarcastically, “At the end of the day, they were just potatoes.” Her final jab: “The fastest thing the waiter did was bring the $650 check.”

The backlash was immediate. Most comments criticized the sky-high prices and poor service.

“For $600, Travis Kelce should be feeding me himself,” one user wrote.

Another claimed, “I helped open that restaurant and quit two weeks after opening.”

Others branded the spot a tourist trap and predicted it “will close once the hype of who owns it dies down.”

One comment summed it up bluntly: “I don’t care who owns it – no steak is worth $100.”
