Having such an important event as the 2026 World Cup during her six-year term, Claudia Sheinbaum has received countless threats about possible demonstrations and protests during this event, something that has kept the authorities on alert.

On this occasion, the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside was the one who warned Claudia Sheinbaum about possible road blockades during the 2026 World Cup. This organization is requesting modifications in the agri-food policy (which is included in the T-MEC) because, according to them, it has kept small producers in the country in bankruptcy conditions.

The magnitude of the event, the investment in infrastructure and the global attention that will be focused on the country could have serious consequences. Now, the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside has raised these possible scenarios if they do not receive a response from the president of Mexico.

Highways in Mexico taken during the 2026 World Cup?

Eraclio Rodriguez, leader of the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside, spoke exclusively to Infobae about the mobilizations they have planned if the Mexican government does not provide a solution to their requests.

The head of this organization assured that this type of movement would not harm the Mexican people, but rather the economic sectors with greater purchasing power that benefit from this type of event.

If we boycott, we are not going to hurt anyone in our town. We are going to hurt the rich people who do come… We take the roads and the World Cup is over. We don’t even have to go to the stadiums

In addition, Rodriguez said that the high cost of tickets for the 2026 World Cup will leave many Mexicans out, even with the celebration in Mexico, while farmers have complications to sell their products.

“We are not going to allow these events to take place here, while we are struggling to sell our products, to sell our crops, in a bad global economic practice,” said the head of the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside.

The leader also took the opportunity to talk about the USMCA, which, from his point of view, is not beneficial for all parties and it is currently the United States that is the most benefited in agricultural issues.

“The United States is taking over a market that belongs to all Mexicans,” said Eraclio Rodriguez, talking about the privileged treatment given to transnational companies over local food producers.

One of the solutions proposed by the leader is to review the T-MEC and support the economy of Mexican families and not the companies in the country: “Those that are in Mexico does not mean that they are Mexican,” said Rodriguez.

Finally, Eraclio Rodriguez pointed out that it is complicated to be in the market with imposed prices, which harm Mexican producers: “It is not possible to sell below production costs, that is an illegality in international trade,” he said.
