Claressa Shields has fired back at Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions after being banned from future MVP events over her viral clash with Alycia Baumgardner.
The incident took place during the MVP MMA event headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano in Inglewood, California.
Video from the private VIP area showed a heated exchange between Shields and Baumgardner before Shields appeared to slap Baumgardner.
MVP later issued an indefinite ban, saying Shields’ behavior violated its standards for guests, fighters, and event personnel.
But Shields has not accepted the punishment quietly.
As highlighted in an EssentiallySports report, the unbeaten boxing champion responded on X by accusing MVP of trying to damage her reputation.
“Now, to MVP, y’all tried to sign me, I declined,” Shields wrote. “You can not ban me from a place I didn’t want to be! I can go fight anywhere in the world tomorrow! So anyone who thinks this weak-a— ban matters, it [doesn’t] ! Those false statements will be addressed, too. Y’all’s fighter threatening me and then playing victim is insane.”
Shields accuses MVP of lying
Shields continued her attack by suggesting the ban was part of a wider pattern of disrespect toward her career.
“MVP y’all lying on me is NOTHING NEW! Since you guys came out the gate, nothing but disrespect! Calling y’all fighters ‘the Real GWOAT,’ overlooking my accomplishments, trying to erase my hard work in women’s boxing & constantly trying to assassinate my character with LIES!”
The comment points to the long-running tension between Shields and MVP, particularly around the promotion of other women’s boxing stars.
Shields has often pushed back against any suggestion that another fighter can claim the “GWOAT” title she has made central to her brand.
Baumgardner clash deepens boxing feud
The dispute with Baumgardner was already personal before the backstage incident.
Baumgardner has called for a fight with Shields, while Shields has viewed some of the talk around her as disrespectful.
Fight Hype reported that Baumgardner said: “I will whoop your a— right now,” before Shields slapped her.
Baumgardner later claimed Shields attacked her without provocation and said the matter would be handled through legal and professional channels.
For MVP, the ban sends a message about conduct outside the ring.
For Shields, it has become another fight over respect, legacy, and who gets to define her place in women’s boxing.
The result is a feud that now feels bigger than one backstage confrontation.
