Life is always teaching us something, not only to ordinary people, but to the privileged too. That lesson of development could meet you at anytime anywhere. For Olympic snowboarding iconChloe Kim, that lesson of revelation arrived after feeling frustrated following an appointment with her physical therapist.

While appearing on the March 13 episode of the ‘Not Skinny But Not Fat’ podcast, Kim opened up about her relationship with Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, revealing just how close she came to giving up on men entirely before the energy of live, and the defensive end, entered her picture.

“I don’t need a man”

Before meeting Garrett in 2025, Kim was at a breaking point with her dating life. Disappointed with the other half of the population, the two-time Olympic gold medalist often felt partners were intimidated by her monumental success and independence, instead of feeling secure with her focusing on the woman she is on the inside.

Apparently, the turning point came during a trip to the 2025 X Games. While traveling with her long-time physical therapist, Vinh Pham (known as Vinnie), Kim reached her limit.

“I can’t date anymore. I’m just going to be single forever. I’m going to get a sperm donor. Like, I don’t need a man. I just want kids, and I’m gonna live happy and free. [55:01]

Pham, who had worked with Kim since 2018 and also happened to count Myles Garrett as a client, did not let the comment slide. He asked her to describe her ideal partner. When Kim listed a man who was tall, kind, family-oriented, and equally or more successful than she was, Pham knew exactly who to call.

A FaceTime call that changed everything

The introduction was as modern as it gets. Pham called Garrett via FaceTime while the NFL star was vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. Despite Kim not following the NFL at all and having no idea who he was at first, the two hit it off instantly.

That first digital spark then led to daily texting and eventually to a first meeting in Dallas, place where Garrett likes to spend his offseasons. At the moment, Kim admitted she was hesitant to date another athlete, but their first date changed everything.

“We had so much fun. That’s when it just clicked… I found my best friend

After the first date, the couple quickly bonded over low-key hobbies, including a shared love for anime like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Now, the couple has become one of the most prestigious pairings in sports, although their demanding schedules often keep them worlds apart. Some reports even suggest that they are planning to take a more serious step anytime soon.
