September 10, 2025, will be remembered as one of the most distressing days in United States history. The assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk has struck the country brutally. Kirk lost his life during his “American Comeback Tour” event at Utah Valley University.

Both Republicans and Democrats condemned the act and called for national unity. Charlie Kirk was 31 years old, had a very close relationship with President Donald Trump, and was a well-known conservative political activist.

Kirk was the founder and leader of the conservative movement Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Following this tragic event, reactions and statements came quickly. One of the strongest came from Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who described the incident as a “political assassination.”

Charlie Kirk was a huge sports fan and enjoyed debating

One of his greatest passions was debating political and cultural issues. However, he was also a big sports enthusiast, and whenever there was an opportunity to debate sports, he did so eagerly.

One of Kirk’s most viral sports debates came when he was asked about LeBron James and Michael Jordan. This topic is a daily point of discussion, as both are considered the greatest basketball players in history.

But for Charlie Kirk, there was no debate: in his view, LeBron James was nowhere near Michael Jordan. “Jordan vs. LeBron: it’s not even a debate,” he declared, insisting that the discussion made no sense.

At one point, Kirk criticized LeBron James for having negative stats in crucial Finals and playoff moments: “Did you know that LeBron James is 0-14 on game-winning shots in Finals or playoffs?” Although he was criticized for this claim -since LeBron has made several clutch shots in his career-, Kirk stood by his position.

On the other hand, Kirk mentioned that he had stopped following the NBA since 2012,believing that the league had lost quality. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears (NFL) and the Chicago Cubs (MLB).
