It has been a month since Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez lost his super middleweight title to Terence Crawford. The fight in the Las Vegas ring marked a turning point in the career of the Guadalajara-born fighter, however, he seems to be focused on other things at the moment, such as his family for example; the message he sent to his daughter Emily on social media has quickly gone viral.
It should be remembered that Crawford surprised the world by defeating Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision, taking away his four super middleweight titles to become the first boxer in history to be undisputed champion in three different divisions. In a fight in which the American was the one who connected the most punches, Crawford took over the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight belts
Canelo Alvarez shares Instagram photo with Emily Cinnamon
On October 12, Emily Cinnamon, daughter of Mexican boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, turned 18 and celebrated with an impressive party full of luxury and music. Through social networks, some images and videos of the celebration were shared, where Emily is seen celebrating with her family and friends, mainly her father Canelo Alvarez and her partner Jaziel Avilez.
Happy 18th birthday my beautiful girl, I will always be there for you…
Previously, Saudi Sheikh Turki Alalshikh revealed that Alvarez was going to have two fights in 2026, both in Saudi Arabia after the millionaire contract they signed last February. While he decides his future, ‘Canelo’ Alvarez spends time with his family and last August his fifth child and second daughter was born with his current partner Fernanda Gomez, Eva Victoria.
“Happy 18th birthday my beautiful girl, I will always be there for you, may this new stage bring you everything you expect from life. I love you,” posted ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. The boxer’s post comes amid uncertainty over what the next challenge of his career will be after losing to Crawford on September 13. A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Canelo will delay his return to the ring due to an unexpected elbow surgery.
Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales encourages Canelo Alvarez to retire
After Canelo’s defeat, Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales was very blunt with his words when referring to the future of the pugilist in the sport. What El Terrible understands is that Saul is not in a favorable situation at all, as he reflects that his level is not as dangerous as in his best days and that this makes him an attractive target for rising super middleweight prospects such as Hamzah Sheeraz.
In that sense, Morales said that retirement should not be an option completely ruled out for Saul, considering how difficult it would be for him to regain the throne of the division that is currently in the hands of Crawford. The only thing that is clear is that Alvarez did not say anything about what he will do with his career, so everything remains a mystery.
“If he really wants to retire, at the end of the day he is not obliged to fight. At the end of the day no one would look badly on him if he retired, but it is up to each athlete, we have to wait and see what decision he is going to make. There are many options, but no one but him is going to decide exactly what he wants to do with his career,” Morales told Izquierdazo.
