Cameron Brink, the rookie forward for the Los Angeles Sparks, has been speaking candidly about her experiences as a professional athlete and the role of mentorship and representation in her life

Brink has also emphasized the importance of being recognized for her achievements, rather than being sexualized as a female athlete.

“It was such a cool and surreal moment to be one of the top names, especially to be pictured with these three other amazing women in Misty Copeland, Alit Truwit, and Sophia Wilson, who are all so established and great in their sport,” Brink said.

“The campaign came out beautifully, and it was such a full-circle moment for me. I went to Stanford, where Sophia went. I did [a Sports Illustrated photoshoot] with Ali a while ago, and I was able to meet Misty. I just have so much respect and admiration for all three of them. It was an incredible experience.”

Sharing her story

Brink also spoke about her collaboration with Aveeno and TOGETHXR, stressing how the partnership reflects the support she has received from influential women in her life.

“It was so important for me to share my story with Aveeno and TOGETHXR because I’ve been using Aveeno product forever, as well as a supporter and follower of TOGETHXR since its inception,” she said.

“When I think back to all the strong female role models in my life, including my mom, my godmother, and all of the female coaches I’ve had – this partnership pays homage to how all these strong women have brought me up. Hopefully, through this campaign, I can pay that knowledge and wisdom forward.”

Focusing on impact over appearance

By openly discussing her career and influences, Cameron Brink demonstrates that female athletes deserve recognition for their talent, dedication, and achievements.

Her story reinforces the message that public attention should be directed toward performance and leadership rather than appearance, challenging the pervasive sexualization of women in sports.

As she continues her rookie season with the Los Angeles Sparks, Brink‘s example shows how young athletes can balance visibility with meaningful advocacy, using their platform to highlight mentorship, hard work, and respect within the sporting community.
