Eduardo Camavinga is going through a difficult time at Real Madrid. His sending off in Munich was the straw that broke the camel’s back after a difficult campaign between injuries and a lack of consistency in his play, both with Xabi Alonso and now with Arbeloa. In fact, it was hard for him to see himself out of the starting eleven against Bayern when he was the only midfielder in the squad with Tchouameni out. And even more so to see himself on his way to the dressing room after the second yellow card. As MARCA has reported, the former Rennes player could not hold back the tears.

His inconsistent campaign has led to Camavinga being mooted as one of the possible transfers for a season in which changes are on the horizon after the club once again went without silverware. He is a sought-after player, but the Frenchman has no intention of giving up and leaving Real Madrid.

Camavinga has also not been able to be with Arbeloa in the most important match, in the second leg against Bayern. And that the coach tried the player in the midfield to give him shooting and confidence. It had cost him to return, especially because of a problem with a tooth that kept him away from the team once again. The Frenchman opted to avoid surgery, aware that it would have ruled him out of the Champions League clash against Guardiola’s side.

When he was getting into the swing of things with Xabi, another mishap also came along. Some discomfort in his ankle in the match at San Mames that later turned out to be a muscle problem. Already against Celta at home he stayed on the bench and after a second test it was confirmed that the muscle injury left him out of action against City at home and against Alaves in La Liga.

The former Rennes player has seven league games ahead of him to regain his confidence, without the pressure of playing for Madrid’s titles. It will be interesting to see how Arbeloa handles this final stretch with many internationals already looking ahead to the World Cup. Tuesday’s match is undoubtedly a litmus test for Camavinga as he returns to the Bernabeu after the clash against Bayern. For him it is the beginning of a new career. That of winning back the Madrid fans and the Bernabeu.
