The news that the Tennessee Titans and Shedeur Sanders mutually canceled their private workout shocked many observers. While both parties officially stated the decision was mutually agreed upon, insiders and analysts suggest the cancellation was initiated by Sanders’ camp-and Cam Ward appears to be the underlying reason.

After weeks of fluctuating draft stock, Sanders saw a glimmer of hope following his performance at Colorado’s Pro Day. Deion Sanders’ son delivered a standout showcase of his talents in front of scouts and representatives from all 32 NFL teams. However, this impressive showing did not sway the Titans to proceed with drafting him.

Instead, Tennessee’s front office had already conducted a private workout with Cam Ward, signaling their clear interest in the Miami Hurricanes prospect. According to influencer DJ BlessOne, the Titans’ focus on Ward prompted Shedeur Sanders and his father, Deion, to pull the plug on their meeting with the team.

Shedeur Sanders rejects being the Titans’ “backup plan”

DJ BlessOne elaborated on his podcast, IsmokeHiphop Live, detailing the complex reasons behind the Sanders family’s decision. “There’s no point to privately work out for a team who has moderate interest in you, while our friend is the one they’re relly eyeing,” he explained.

BlessOne added that Shedeur Sanders was keen on protecting his reputation after enduring setbacks. “Why should I, a top quarterack, acquiesce to your private workout decisions, only to be mocked, only to be picked apart by so-called executives who claim they know me or that I’m not the proper character for the position?”

Shedeur’s absence from college all-star games and the NFL Scouting Combine has already dealt significant damage to his reputation. A poor evaluation during a private workout could further harm his chances of being a top draft pick.

Uncertain future awaits Shedeur Sanders

Recent mock drafts indicate Shedeur Sanders might fall outside the top five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Analysts project him landing with teams like the Las Vegas Raiders at pick six, the New Orleans Saints at pick nine, or even the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick 21.

The countdown to the draft is already underway. Teams are fine-tuning their strategy to land their preferred candidates, and only they know the fate that awaits Ward and Sanders. The rest of us will have to wait until April 24 to find out the truth.
