The Tennessee Titans, like the Chiefs, had a poor start to the 2025 NFL season, currently at a 0-2 record, and rookie quarterback Cam Ward is handling the frustrations of having to command and lead an under-performing unit.

Following a 20-12 Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos, the Titans lost 33-19 to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2. These losses have underscored systemic problems with the Titans’ offense and now forces Ward to respond under stormed conditions.

Offensive struggles take the spotlight

Ward himself has also been honest about the team’s weaknesses. “Every time we get behind the sticks, we end up shooting ourselves in the foot,” he said, talking about the difficulty of keeping good field position and prolonging drives.

The Titans have struggled to obtain 20 points in every game, which is a sign of issues about offensive consistency and execution. Third-and-long situations have become the norm, leaving the offense in alarming positions and reducing opportunities for the big plays.

Cam Ward’s leadership under pressure

While being a rookie, Ward will need to learn the NFL game while navigating through a team battling to overcome early-season challenges. Proving an understanding of the offense’s deficiency is a motivation to meet challenges as soon as they arrive, creating and sculping a leadership that would calm a storm down under the highest stress.

The Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts in the coming days is going to be the turning point, as the Titans will play against them to get rid of the grey cloud over their heads. A better performance on offense, less mistakes, and enhanced tactics will be the key for the Titans and Ward in restoring their fortunes. It looks so easy on paper but once both teams are on the field…

Though the 0-2 starting record is a synonym of adversity, it is also one of progress. For Cam Ward, those early-season losses and wins are not victories and defeats but opportunities for development, may ultimately chart the course of his NFL career and that of the Titans’ season.
