Every NFL season is intense, particularly when it comes to the battle among the league’s talented quarterbacks. This year, several signal-callers have stood out, including Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, and, of course, the Chiefs’ sensational Patrick Mahomes, as well as Chicago Bears sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams, who has quickly made a name for himself.

Despite their individual performances, Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams are experiencing similar starts to the season when it comes to team results. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears hold 1-2 records, with each franchise earning their first victories last week, the Chiefs defeating the New York Giants and the Bears topping the Dallas Cowboys.

Nevertheless, the two quarterbacks have experienced very different starts individually. Three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes has yet to shine as expected with the Chiefs, while former Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams has built on his sophomore season, showing noticeable improvement in his second year in the NFL.

Caleb Williams outshines Patrick Mahomes in early 2025 NFL stats

Few expected Caleb Williams to have such a strong season, especially after a challenging rookie year with some negative stats. However, this year he has demonstrated improved leadership and has become a key part of the Chicago Bears’ offense.

In the Bears’ most recent game against the Dallas Cowboys, Caleb Williams delivered an outstanding performance, completing 19 of 29 passes for 298 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions, and no sacks. With this showing, he has boosted his season stats and currently surpasses Patrick Mahomes in several key metrics.

According to a post by MLFootball, a photo comparing the early-season stats of both quarterbacks highlighted Caleb Williams’ standout performance. The post read, “Caleb Williams has outplayed 2x MVP Patrick Mahomes this season,” adding that “Williams has looked like one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league this season.”

The image showed how Caleb Williams has outpaced Patrick Mahomes across several key metrics. Williams has thrown for 715 passing yards and seven touchdowns compared to Mahomes’ 669 yards and three touchdowns. He also leads in yards per completion (7.7 vs. 6.4) and completion percentage (63.4% vs. 59.0%), while both quarterbacks have one interception.

Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams face their next NFL challenge

Both teams are focused on improving their gameplay to secure top results this season. As they prepare for their upcoming matches against franchises holding 1-2 records, the challenge appears steeper for the Chiefs. Fans will be watching closely to see which team can sharpen their strategy and dominate on the field.

The Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, face a tough challenge against the Baltimore Ravens, one of the top contenders in the AFC, at Arrowhead Stadium. Meanwhile, the Bears will take on the Las Vegas Raiders in their Week 4 matchup at Allegiant Stadium. Both teams are looking to sharpen their gameplay and secure key victories as the season heats up.
