Injuries have gotten in the way of Caitlin Clark during her second year in the WNBA and at Indiana Fever. She has only appeared in 13 games and in early September, the team confirmed that CC would be ruled out for the remainder of the season, missing the Playoffs.
Despite this, it is undeniable that her presence on or off the court steals the fans’ attention. And this time, it was no exception.
Clark’s new role in Indiana
Indiana comes from beating Atlanta Dream in the first round series by 2-1 and, in this way, passed to the Semifinals. Now, they will face the Las Vegas Aces this Sunday at Michelob ULTRA Arena in a best-of-five series.
Clark, who has been cheering on her teammates like a fan, has developed a new role in the group: that of photographer.
During Indiana’s practice prior to Game 1 of the Semifinals, the 23-year-old point guard photographed her teammates and their coach, Stephanie White.
The official Fever account later shared the photos Clark had taken, giving CC credit. In the post, Caitlin humorously commented, “Kinda ate” and “Got ya Steph,” the 48-year-old coach, who proudly wore a t-shirt in support of Kelsey Mitchell as MVP.
Her teammate, Natasha Howard did not hide her fanaticism for CC and commented “You took some amazing picture @caitlinclark22“. Imitating the 34-year-old star, fans were also not silent and highlighted the work of the former Iowa: “Caitlin in her photographer era” said one of them. “Coach Caitlin, now Photographer Caitlin” highlighted another follower. “Most Valuable Photographer” joked another user.
In the absence of Clark on the court, Indiana will look to seal its first win in the Semifinals against A’ja Wilson‘s Aces, another WNBA MVP candidate.
This season, both teams have faced three times, ending in 2 wins for Fever and one win for Aces. The first one was the only victory for the Aces by 89-81. Then, Indiana crushed the team led by Becky Hammon by 81-54 and 80-70.
Undoubtedly, a Semifinals that promises action and that could be captured under Clark’s lens.
