Caitlin Clark accurately forecast one of the week’s most talked-about pop culture-sports crossovers in Taylor Swift’s debut appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce‘s New Heights podcast as she reacts to the new album news.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year has been an outspoken fan of the Eras Tour star since childhood, had speculated that the episode would generate an online frenzy and she was instantly proved correct.

“Swifties so powerful we broke the internet,” Clark posted on X.com, formerly Twitter, while waiting for the podcast to premiere on YouTube on August 13. Her words proved prescient, as the episode drew nearly three million views within its first three hours online.

Swift‘s appearance had been teased earlier in the week, marking her first-ever participation in a podcast, which is co-hosted by her boyfriend and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis and his older brother, Jason.

One of the most downloaded sports podcasts in the United States, New Heights then exploded in popularity with the army of Swifties arriving for Taylor’s appearance marking their first joint media project.

The 35-year-old singer then announced her 12th studio album titled The Life of a Showgirl to send the internet wild, including her co-hosts and also the Indiana Fever‘s talented basketball star.

Sophie Cunningham takes swipe at Caitlin Clark’s skin tone

While Clark was celebrating Swift’s podcast debut, a separate storyline involving her teammate Sophie Cunningham surfaced, as the 28-year-old criticized Caitlin for publicly commenting on a lighthearted social media video.

Cunningham, who became popular for defending Clark in a viral June altercation against the Connecticut Sun’s Jacy Sheldon, posed alongside the Fever’s Lexie Hull in a swimsuit besides a pool and Clark wasn’t overly impressed.

“Swimsuit brands plz comment ‘focus on basketball,'” Clark commented on a clip posted before a recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Cunningham then took a jab at Clark’s swimsuit preferences on her podcast, and also her skin tone: “I was like, ‘Dude, you don’t have to be a hater. I’ll get you like a one piece that only shows your eyes’. She did something and has this big bruise on her leg, and I was like, ‘You’re finally getting color.'”

A since-deleted TikTok comment from Cunningham had earlier read, “maybe a brand will make a full body wet suit for your pale a*s too… We all win!”

It was all in jest as Cunningham‘s social media popularity has soared since the June incident in which she was ejected and fined for defending Clark, sparking a close bond between the pair.

The bond has remained intact despite CC being out injured since July with muscular problems, which will mean she will miss the contest against the Washington Mystics on Friday, August 15.
