Injuries have robbed Caitlin Clark of a small chunk of games during the 2025 WNBA season, which has put a damper on what should be a true breakout year for the Indiana Fever star. Despite playing in just nine games so far, Clark was named a captain in the WNBA All-Star Game due to being the top vote-getter alongside Napheesa Collier.

Nothing would seem fishy about that, but it was revealed by Dick Vitale that Clark was voted as the ninth-best guard by her fellow WNBA peers. The All-Star voting process takes 50% of fan votes, 25% of player votes and 25% of media votes. Unsurprisingly, there has been outrage regarding Clark’s ranking among WNBA rivals, with many citing jealousy as the reason for it.

Clark is certainly putting up impressive numbers this season, but she has missed a lot of games, which may have affected the vote among WNBA players. Regardless, it has added another layer of competitiveness not only for Clark, but for her fans as well.

During Tuesday night’s WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship between the Fever and Minnesota Lynx, a fan was spotted with a sign that read as a threat to all of Clark’s rivals: “9th in your rankings but 1st in your nightmares“.

It’s clear that fans aren’t just going to let this slide by. We don’t know how Clark feels about it, but if her fans are this perturbed, it may end up as a motivational tool for the player.
