The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will be historic for several reasons. It’s not just the first time Caitlin Clark will serve as a team captain, or the first time the Indiana Fever will host the event – it’s also the first time since 2011 that three rookies have received All-Star nods in the same season.

On June 29, the WNBA announced the results of All-Star voting. Caitlin Clark (Fever), Aliyah Boston (Fever), Alisha Gray (Dream), Sabrina Ionescu (Liberty), and Breanna Stewart (Liberty) will represent the East Team.

The West Team will feature Napheesa Collier (Lynx), rookie Paige Bueckers (Wings), Nneka Ogwumike (Storm), Satou Sabally (Mercury), and A’ja Wilson (Aces). While these selections were largely expected, the true surprise came with the announcement of the reserves.

Three rookies headed to the All-Star stage

It’s rare for a rookie class to leave such a mark in the WNBA. Even last year, only Clark and Angel Reese earned All-Star nods – both through fan voting.

This year, Bueckers was the lone rookie selected via public vote. However, two other first-year standouts – Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, both from the Washington Mystics – were also named as reserves by the league’s 24 head coaches.

The coaches also addressed a few public snubs by naming fan favorites like Kelsey Mitchell (Fever), Kelsey Plum (Sparks), and Angel Reese (Sky) as reserves after they narrowly missed starting spots.

Expect a dazzling showdown

With 22 electric talents, a fiery East-West rivalry, and coaches who tend to dial down the defense to showcase jaw-dropping plays, the WNBA All-Star Game promises to be a true spectacle.

If you’re a women’s basketball fan, mark your calendar for July 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET. And if you’re not, you might want to tune in anyway – this is one show you won’t want to miss.
