With the NFL preseason underway, the time has arrived for position battles to be settled. It will take strong performances in practice and games for certain players to claw their way into a starting spot. The Cleveland Browns quarterback competition is the most notorious battle, although many have eyes on the New York Giants as well.
Despite fans wanting all three of Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston to go toe-to-toe-to-toe for the starting job, head coach Brian Daboll has already said Wilson is the guy. Wilson’s middling past few seasons with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers has many thinking Dart will overtake him sooner than later, and it sounds like he may already be on his way.
Brian Daboll says Jaxson Dart is leading his teammates like a quarterback should
Daboll appeared on Inside Training Camp LIVE for NFL Network and was asked about Dart’s development so far. His answer gave a lot of hope to Giants fans who want to see the rookie impress early and often.

Daboll says Dart likes to hang out with all of the position groups on the team, even defensive players. The head coach has liked what he’s seen from Dart, particularly “interacting with his teammates and leading as a quarterback“.
Dart’s physical tools have never been in question. In reality, neither have his intangibles, but he’s showing them off firsthand in Giants practice. Wilson is an incredible leader in his own right, so Dart has his work cut out for him in order to surpass the veteran. But he seems to be on the right track.
