Negotiations continue between the Dallas Cowboys and kicker Brandon Aubrey. A few weeks ago, the talks failed to reach a satisfactory outcome, which is why the back-and-forth between both sides continues. While that process unfolds, the kicker has decided to make the most of his time and create a memorable experience.

Jerry Jones continues working to rebuild his team. Part of that effort involves dealing with the players already on the roster, those he must retain, while also attempting to convince new talent to join the organization.

And to let the pressure evaporate for a while, Aubrey decided to experience a rush of adrenaline by getting behind the wheel of an IndyCar single-seater.

Brandon Aubrey tests extreme speed

The powerful kicks Aubrey has delivered on nearly every attempt have often provided the Cowboys with decisive points and unique advantages in games. He has become the best kicker in the entire league, which is why many observers struggle to understand why Jerry Jones has not yet finalized a new deal with him.

Brandon tried his luck during a driving test in one of those single-seater race cars, reaching speeds of 150 mph. The moment occurred during the first IndyCar Series event held at AT&T Stadium as part of the Arlington Grand Prix.

Jerry Jones was also present, along with several other players who attended the event to enjoy the spectacle. However, more than anyone else, it was the kicker who captured the spotlight throughout the day.

Just a few days earlier, Aubrey had met driver Mick Schumacher at the Cowboys’ facilities. The two held a conversation in which they discussed the differences between their sports and the specific qualities required to excel in each discipline.

During an interview with Fox, Jones spoke about how pleased he was with the development of the event and everything that came with organizing it.

But I’ve said one thing when we first started talking about the idea. It has to be extremely high quality. Everything about it, the track, the equipment, everything involved. It’s beyond anything I could have expected. We know this had to go up.

What have they done to my football stadium? It’s great. But no, it is great. And to think these guys are going to be upwards of 200 miles an hour in these turns, it just gives me the chills. Start your engines.

Brandon Aubrey talks about negotiations with the Cowboys

For now, the kicker remains a restricted free agent, something he is not particularly happy about because it prevents other teams from pursuing him. Aubrey addressed the situation directly.

It’s not something that I have control over, as the term ‘restricted’ applies there.”…”So obviously, Dallas is my home. Would like to keep it that way, so it would be nice to get a long-term deal going; just need to sit down and have that conversation.

Brandon Aubrey

No waiting pattern.”,,,”There’s a lot of moving parts with the Cowboys at the moment, and there are players that aren’t restricted that they got to sort through first because with that restriction, movement is significantly more difficult. So they go through, and there are more important fires to put out. And then they can circle when things calm down and talk to me.

It will be necessary to wait and see how everything ultimately develops.
