Bengals Star Receiver Ja’Marr Chase Exits Practice With Apparent Knee Injury

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase reportedly exited practice Tuesday after suffering an apparent knee injury during team drills.

Chase held his knee and received attention from athletic trainers on the field after going down during a play.

After practice ended, Chase told ESPN 1530 Cincinnati he’s “fine” and the injury was a minor “hyperextension.”

According to multiple reporters in attendance, Chase walked off the field under his own power. He continued to stretch his leg on the sideline and was later seen walking without assistance. Chase did not require a cart or further medical treatment on the field.

The Bengals have not provided an official update regarding the injury.

Losing Chase for any duration would present a challenge for the Bengals offense, as his connection with quarterback Joe Burrow has formed the core of the passing game since Chase was drafted in 2021.

Behind Chase, the Bengals wide receiver depth chart includes Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Colbie Young, Mitch Tinsley and Charlie Jones.

An extended absence for Chase would also increase defensive pressure on Higgins, who would likely see more double coverage as the top target and running back Chase Brown, another key contributor on offense. While Iosivas has stepped into a complementary role in recent seasons, the Cincinnati passing game relies primarily on Chase and Higgins to generate the majority of its production.

The Bengals open their season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 13.
