David Benavidez’s father is still doing his thing with controversial statements, not only for Canelo, but he even left a little dart for Dmitry Bivol for getting off to fight with his son and even touched Artur Beterbiev
In a chat with Fight Hub TV, Jose Benavidez gave his honest opinion on Bivol’s decision to leave the championship vacant in order to seek the trilogy with Beterbiev
“They decided not to go ahead and vacate the belt. It’s a big surprise that they did,” he confessed
“A fight against David Benavidez would have been a big fight, and maybe the winner of that fight could have fought Beterbiev, or maybe we could have fought Beterbiev first, and the winner of that fight could have fought Bivol. It would have made more sense,” said Benavidez‘s father

Jose Benavidez did not hold back against the possibility of his son fighting the winner of the trilogy between Bivol and Beterbiev.
“We’re not going to wait for anybody. We didn’t wait for Canelo, so we’re not going to wait for anybody. We try to stay active and give the fans what they want,” said Jose on Fight Hub TV
That was not all, as Benavidez’s father shared more details of the financial offer that Bivol rejected
“It is very accurate. It was $8 million. Bivol would have taken 60% and we 40%. That was just for Dmitry [the $8 million]. It was between $14 million and $15 million. We were not going to step aside. I don’t believe in those who step aside,” he said
