Cleveland Browns put a stop to the fall of Shedeur Sanders in the NFL Draft and that gesture was well repaid. His talent and skill set have more than satisfied his teammates and coaching staff, both in rookie minicamp where he made a good first impression, as well as in organized team activities and mandatory minicamps.

Although he was projected as a first-round pick, the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was selected in the fifth round at No. 144 in the draft. His case has baffled fans, teammates, NFL analysts, and continues to raise eyebrows, especially now that the team has not defined its QB1.

And in this sense, a Browns legend expressed his opinion and hit hard on the dreams of Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, who was acquired by the Browns during the third round of the Draft.

Shedeur and Dillon’s hopes could take a hit

During the June 16 episode of “The Hanford Dixon Show,” the legendary cornerback spoke with host Gabriella Kruez. It was there that he made a statement about who would be the Browns’ starting quarterback and, if true, the path of Sanders and Gabriel could be affected.

I think we’re gonna have to maybe trade one to someone else to see if we can get some draft picks or something. It depends on I think Joe’s [Flacco] sack, I think he’s the one that will start. I think, [Kenny] Pickett, they would love to see him rise through the cage and maybe start to play well, but you never know.

A trade is one of the worst-case scenarios rookies can imagine, as the blow would be hard to deal with.

However, joining the fight for the starting job is Deshaun Watson, who was a 2024 starter, but had to sit out due to his Achilles injury and is expected to miss most of this season. However, he is also actively working to recover and retake his place.

Despite speculation and the legend’s words, the Cleveland Browns have not confirmed who their QB1 will be.
