Taking advantage of the WNBA offseason, Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers has had a great debut in Unrivaled with a 2-0 record for Breeze BC.
In addition, the 24-year-old point guard has focused on working out and preparing her physique in the gym to get better results. And this did not go unnoticed by Azzi Fudd, girlfriend and former teammate at UConn.
Azzi reacts to Paige’s change in appearance
After a great first season in the WNBA where she was named Rookie of the Year, Bueckers decided she would not wait for her second year with the Wings to return to the court after they were eliminated from the playoffs.
With the opportunity to participate in the 3-on-3 league co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart in 2023, Paige didn’t think twice. And she got off to a great start: she and her team have two consecutive wins and zero losses, beating Phantom 62-69 and Hive 73-62.
However, Bueckers also focused on gaining muscle in the gym during the offseason, something that is obvious to the naked eye and that fans have been quick to notice.
“For me, getting in the weight room this offseason and having a healthy offseason where I could grind and get better… I think it definitely helps with this Unrivaled league and just how physical it is,” Paige told @espnw.
However, the person who also did not overlook this physical change in the former UConn player was “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend” – as she herself has written on her cell phone case – who commented on it.
After the Huskies star and her team defeated St. John’s 88-43 on January 7, Fudd was asked by Husky Bytes: “Have you noticed Paige has been in the weight room? Her arms, man, she’s jacked!”
“She definitely has been hitting the weight room,” Fudd responded with a laugh.
“It has been really amazing to see her take that seriously. She always has, but to see an actual difference, it has been great. And you can see the difference on the court, too,” Azzi added.
Meanwhile, Paige and Breeze are preparing to face Lexie Hull and Chelsea Gray’s Rose (2-0) this Sunday, January 11. The game will be broadcast on trutv and HBO max.
