Indiana Fever dealt a tough blow to Atlanta Dream after taking a 77-60 win on Tuesday, snapping a 1-1 tie in the series and forcing a third Playoff game in which one of the two teams will be eliminated.
Karl Smesko’s team got off to a great start by beating the Fever 80-68 at the Gateway Center, however, they were unable to repeat the feat at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Now, they return home for the final game of the series and Atlanta made a very special request to their fans.
Dream asks their fans for help
In game 1, Atlanta shined thanks to Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, who scored 20 points each in 35 and 32 minutes of play respectively. In addition, Naz Hillmon with 16 points and Brionna Jones with 12, were the four players who scored in double digits. However, on Tuesday night, 16, only two players reached double digits: Rhyne Howard added 10 points and Te-Hina Paopao chipped in 11.
Fever, meanwhile, was led by Kelsey Mitchell, who tallied 19 points, four assists, two steals and a block in 29 minutes of play. Aliyah Boston (15) and Natasha Howard (12) were the other two players who scored in double digits.
What is certain is that both teams want to win Game 3. Indiana is ready to be the big revelation and show its resilience, but Atlanta wants to continue on the Playoff road and celebrate at home. For this reason, the team’s official Instagram account shared an image promoting the game, but accompanied by a special request:
“DREAM FANS! We need you in the building on Thursday night as we take on the Fever at home with the Semifinals on the line!” they wrote.
The stadium has a capacity of 3,500 fans, so with this action, Atlanta seeks to enter the arena with a special addition: the support of their fans. Game 3 will take place next Thursday, September 18, where a true spectacle between fans and players will be experienced and it will be known which of the two teams will continue their way in the Playoffs.
