Raiders owner Mark Davis speaks about Pete Carroll
The team’s poor performance has already caught the attention of its owner, Mark Davis, who recently addressed the situation surrounding both his franchise and head coach Pete Carroll, who joined the team during the offseason.
It’s a culture change and I’m giving it a chance and observing and seeing what’s going on. It’s early in the season.
It’s too early to be making these harsh reality decisions,” Davis added. “Results are what speak to me, and we’re in the middle of the season.
Those were Davis’s comments to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL.com.
Taking advantage of Davis’s presence, Garafolo and Rapoport also asked him about the recent championship won by the Las Vegas Aces.
Now, Davis hopes that the same model-hiring the right people, letting them do their jobs, and trusting the process-can translate to his beloved Raiders, now under the guidance of Pete Carroll.
A nightmare start for Pete Carroll’s Raiders
Last season, in 2024, the Raiders were already among the worst teams in the league. Yet with Carroll’s arrival, expectations were high that the situation would finally change. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. The Raiders remain near the bottom of the NFL standings, posting a 2-5 record marked by ugly performances.
Their most glaring issue has been Geno Smith, who also joined the team this year. His play has been disastrous from the start, filled with costly mistakes and poor decision-making. Week after week, he continues to struggle, and it’s unclear how he-or the Raiders can dig their way out of the hole they’ve fallen into.
Perhaps the only bright spot for Las Vegas is defensive star Maxx Crosby. Rumors surfaced that the Dallas Cowboys were interested in trading for him, but Crosby made it clear he wants to stay put, saying he’s happy with his teammates and enjoys living in Las Vegas.
The Raiders’ next matchup will be against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but given their current form, their chances of winning appear slim.
