Angel Reese, the 23-year-old Chicago Sky forward, stepped away from basketball on Saturday evening to enjoy a personal night out, fuelling speculation she could have a boyfriend.

Taking a temporary pause from her commtiments to the WNBA, the talented second-year player attended UFC 319 at the United Center in Chicago, an event headlined by a middleweight championship bout between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.

Chimaev dominated the five-round fight, demonstrating elite grappling skills to earn a decisive victory and claim the UFC middleweight title, but it was Reese‘s companion for the evening that sparked a frenzy on social media.

Posting clips on Instagram Stories, Reese captioned one as “date night.” In the video, a male figure wearing a gray jacket appeared beside her, though his face was not revealed.

Social media quickly speculated that her guest was Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr., reigniting prior rumors linking the pair.

One fan commented via X.com, formerly Twitter, “I swear that’s Wendell Carter jr.

Whilst a second said, “I’m watching this UFC fight & I see Wendell Carter & Angel Reese posted [laughing emoji].”

And a third wrote, “Was that not Angel Reese and Wendell Carter?”

Carter previously attended the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis to support Reese, donning a Reese-themed shirt and posing for photos together.

Additional sightings suggest Carter attended Reese’s 23rd birthday celebration in May, and Reese had been spotted at multiple Magic games last season, although neither has publicly confirmed a relationship.

Reese has been sidelined for the last seven Sky games due to a persistent back injury, and there is currently no set timetable for her return to the court, although the team will not make the WNBA Playoffs either way.

They are next in action against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, August 19 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Tip-off is from 20:00 ET/17:00 PT.

Angel Reese makes petition ahead of charity event

Despite her current absence from the court, Reese continues to make an impact off the floor as she has promoted her upcoming Back-to-School Bash, organized through the Angel Reese Foundation in partnership with Reebok.

The event, scheduled for August 24 at Intentional Sports in Chicago, aims to provide 1,000 students with free backpacks and school supplies. Reese plans to host a “special community chat” with her mother, Angel Webb Reese.

Guest speakers will also be present covering topics such as back-to-school readiness, mental health, anti-bullying strategies, and parental involvement in student success and fans attending the event will also have the opportunity to meet Reese in person.

The Sky All-Star’s willingness to maintain visibility and engagement with fans illustrates her leadership both on and off the court, even while managing a prolonged absence from professional play.
