Angel Reese has watched seven consecutive Chicago Sky games from the sidelines due to a persistent back injury.
The 23-year-old forward was also unable to attend the team’s fourth consecutive loss, most recently to the Golden State Valkyries 59-90 at Wintrust Arena. However, she shared some news that excited her fans.
Reese’s announcement
The two-time All-Star did not announce her return to the court, but she did announce one of her personal projects that brought her closer to her fans and the figures she admires: her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.”
Using her official X account, the Sky star shared this pleasant surprise with her more than 705,000 followers: “Okay, so THE Unapologetically Angel Show is almost backkkk,” she began in her post.
She also asked her fans for recommendations: “What should we do for the first episode? What else do you guys want to see this season? I want to do more vlogs, lives, day in a life’s, and of course sitting down with some of our faves! Let me know!“
And they responded: “I feel like the first episode should be catching up with you. Kind of like how s1 started,” recommended one of her followers. “Kamilla… Would love to see you interview her,” said another fan. “Have a sit down with CC. I swear the Internet would break lol,” added another user.
This project was born in 2024 and is part of Playmaker and Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Podcast Network, releasing a new episode every Thursday. Great personalities such as Cam Newton, Shaq, and Dwyane Wade have passed through its microphones. Even his mother was present in one episode.
In each episode, Reese not only talks with her guests about sports and NIL agreements or sporting milestones, but also about each of their personal growth, social and cultural issues, their exposure as public figures, and various enriching experiences. All this, of course, with Angel’s characteristic bold touch.
When will Reese return to Sky?
Currently, Chicago Sky has an 8-25 record, second to last in the WNBA standings, only above Sun (6-27).
The absence of her 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game is being felt greatly.
The truth is that there is still no date set for her return. Coach Tyler Marsh has indicated that she will only return to the team when she is completely ready.
“I’d leave that to the medical staff,” Marsh said. “For us, it’s just making sure that she’s as healthy as possible.” For now, all we can do is wait.
