With two daughters, Olympia and Adira, in the picture, Alexis Ohanian has stepped into the role of “girl dad” with the same dedication Serena once brought to the court.
Ohanian‘s approach to fatherhood blends the charming with the intentional. From cooking Sunday morning pancakes to accompanying Olympia as her “daddy caddy” during golf lessons, he’s turned routine moments into rituals of bonding.
In a tweet shared on April 17, Ohanian reflected on one of these weekly sessions, saying: “Being blessed to have two Black daughters in particular helps me reframe even some of the most subtle things. So I take Olympia golfing every Sunday. I am her daddy caddy. I don’t know how to play golf, I never played golf. And so we’ll go out there, and I am terrible, but we have a good instructor who’s also a woman.”
What stood out most wasn’t just the image of a dad learning a new sport with his child-it was the lens through which his daughter saw the experience.
“But I recently realized she thinks golf is a girls-only sport… and all the old white guys on the driving range are just other dads waiting for their daughters,” he added. “That lens, though? It’s everything.”
Parenting as a team
Ohanian and Williams have made parenting a true partnership. While Serena encourages their daughters to embrace their wild, creative sides, Ohanian takes a “gentle-ish” approach, focusing on patience and open dialogue.
Together, they’ve been praised for their commitment to raising strong, joyful daughters, with one admirer-Flau’jae Johnson‘s mother-once calling Ohanian the “best dad in the whole wide world.”
He’s echoed that sentiment many times, emphasizing how Serena, despite her massive professional responsibilities, is deeply rooted in family life.
“Something [Williams] is really good at is shutting it off and focusing on family time and personal time,” he once shared. That “mom strength button,” as he called it back in 2018, continues to impress him to this day.
The couple marked their seventh wedding anniversary on November 16, 2024, with loving posts that reminded the world their bond is still as strong as ever. “7 years ago today, we got married here. Now we get to bring these two for beignets. Happy Anniversary,” Ohanian wrote. “Thanks for giving me the two greatest humans we’ve ever met. You’re an amazing mama. I’m very lucky to have met you.”
Serena responded with equal warmth: “7 years has gone so fast… Happy anniversary @alexisohanian thank you for being the best dad to our girls.”
