The presence of fans dressed as bees at Carlos Alcaraz’s matches in Indian Wells has become a tradition since the 2024 incident. In that edition, the quarter-final match between the Spaniard and Alexander Zverev was interrupted by the presence of a swarm on the court.

Those images of the Spaniard running towards the locker room while protecting himself from the insects (he got a good sting), the astonished crowd in the stands and the subsequent arrival of Lance Davis (‘Killer Bee’), the person who vacuumed up the bees without any protection, are still remembered.

Last year, several fans were already seen wearing a kind of black and yellow striped bib at Alcaraz’s matches. “It was a lot of fun. They helped me a lot, I was looking at them and I was laughing. I always say that when I laugh and have fun on the court I get to play good tennis,” said the Spaniard. This year they have returned. After beating Cameron Norrie and reaching the semifinals, he approached that side of the court and did not hesitate to put on a bee costume that he was given. With it on, he jumped around the court.

“It’s fun to see them in the stands cheering in that costume. The other day I was with them a little bit at the end of the game. Today they brought me a bee costume. And they started to tell me: Put it on, put it on… I had to do it for them. They were cheering me from the first point to the last. And I said to myself, I’ll do it.
