According to Brian McKeon of Locked on Yankees said: “I think if they don’t make the playoffs, there’s a legitimate chance that the fan outcry will be so strong that Hal (Steinbrenner) almost has no choice but to fire him (Aaron Boone). “Eh, and I don’t think he would want to fire him, but I almost think you wouldn’t have a choice because if you miss the playoffs with a $330 million payroll, and basically no injuries except for Gerrit Cole and Giancarlo Stanton, who came back and played well, it’s really hard to justify, eh, keeping that manager.”
