31-year-old Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while speaking on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, as part of his “American Comeback Tour,” on September 10, 2025.

Sources indicate the fatal bullet struck him in the neck, approximately 200 yards from the shooter’s position.

Kirk’s death tragically came just one day before the victims and heroes of 9/11 are remembered across the United States.

Charlie was a conservative political activist and was very close to President Donald Trump. Both Republicans and Democrats have condemned the act and called for immediate unity.

Will President Trump attend Yankees’ 9/11 ceremony?

Following Kirk’s tragic death, the New York Yankees and the White House confirmed that President Trump will be present today at Yankee Stadium.

“The New York Yankees and the White House today announced that President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to attend the Yankees-Tigers game on Thursday, September 11, at Yankee Stadium. Pregame ceremonies will recognize the victims and heroes of 9/11,” the Yankees stated through social media.

Yankee Stadium special security measures for 9/11 ceremony

The Yankees also posted a list of special security measures due to Charlie Kirk’s assassination and President Trump’s attendance.

If you’re going to the game, you’d better take this list very seriously:

  • Bags will not be allowed in Yankee Stadium with the exception of one “clutch-type” bag per guest. The maximum size of a clutch bag is 4.5″ x 6.5″.
  • Guests should make every effort to restrict personal items to an absolute minimum. Any such items should be able to fit in a pocket.
  • All bags, personal items and their contents will be inspected before being permitted into Yankee Stadium.
  • There is no storage area at Yankee Stadium for prohibited items.
  • Bottles, cans and liquids will not be permitted in Yankee Stadium. Restricted items included empty, reusable water bottles.
  • Laptops and tablets will not be permitted in Yankee Stadium.
  • Guests should expect that typically accessible areas inside and outside Yankee Stadium may become restricted spaces before, during or after the game.
