There’s no doubt that theCleveland Browns organization has stolen the show over the past few months, all thanks to the fact that in the recent NFL Draft, they ended up selecting in the fifth round the most controversial quarterback-perhaps in NCAA history-Shedeur Sanders, former player from the University of Colorado.

Shedeur Sanders had been projected to go in the first round after finishing his final year in the NCAA with 37 touchdown passes and being a Heisman Trophy candidate. However, not only did he fall out of the first round, but five quarterbacks were drafted before him until the Cleveland Browns came in with pick No. 144.

Since then, the media spotlight has been on the Cleveland Browns organization. There’s been everything-questions, accusations, criticism-yet Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski has remained calm and collected. Not surprisingly, he’s a two-time NFL Coach of the Year (2020 and 2023).

Joe Thomas, Browns legend, praised Kevin Stefanski and the Browns organization

The pressure has been on Kevin Stefanski, especially to give Shedeur Sanders a real opportunity. In reality, Sanders has done a solid job in training camp overall, has behaved like a professional, and in the real chance he got, he delivered spectacularly with two touchdown passes against the Carolina Panthers’ starters.

In the end, Stefanski stuck with his decisions: Joe Flacco will be QB1, while with Kenny Pickett’s departure, Dillon Gabriel is officially QB2, and Shedeur Sanders is QB3. After this, Joe Thomas, Hall of Famer, praised the Browns for how they’ve handled the situation.

“I think the Browns have done a good job, in spite of some outside national criticism, of protecting the rookies, putting them in as many situations as possible to help them grow and develop without destroying their confidence,” said Joe Thomas.

The Cleveland Browns will open against the Cincinnati Bengals, with Joe Flacco as the starter. But at the first signs of struggle from the veteran, fans will start calling for a change, and the first option will be Dillon Gabriel-although surely, fans will be asking for Shedeur Sanders. What a season ahead for the Browns.
