With the MLB trade deadline fast approaching, the Yankees and Dodgers are looking to shore up third base, and they’re not alone

According to information from reporter Mark Feinsand, the Yankees see him as a Plan B if they fail to close a deal for Eugenio Suarez, so there is a strong possibility that he will end up going to the Bronx

In which team will McMahon play in 2025?

One of the aspects that adds value to McMahon is that he is under contract until 2027 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, earning $16 million per season, so his arrival to another team has a certain degree of difficulty. However, for a team as financially sound as the Yankees or Dodgers, the scenario is more than possible.

However, while the Dodgers and Yankees are the frontrunners, the Chicago Cubs also have McMahon on their radar. Journalist Jim Bowden had already mentioned the interest of the Chicago team, although the situation with Matt Shaw, their current third baseman, could hinder any move.

Shaw has performed well recently, hitting two home runs in his last three games, so if he maintains that level, the Cubs could opt to keep him as a starter.

Even so, a platoon between Shaw and McMahon, one playing against right-handed pitchers and the other against left-handed pitchers, is a viable option.

The main problem for the Cubs would be the remaining salary of McMahon, as well as the need for space to continue developing Shaw
