Miller Gardner unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21.

His parents, Brett and Jessica, later confirmed in a heartfelt statement that their son had fallen ill along with other family members before his passing.

“We have so many questions and so few answers at this point,” the family wrote, remembering Miller as a beloved son and brother who lived life to the fullest.

Rodriguez, who played alongside Gardner from 2008 to 2016, expressed his sorrow and support for his longtime friend during this difficult time.

“I’ll tell you, from someone who has two daughters, I can’t even begin to comprehend the feelings,” he said.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to him, his wife, Jessica, and obviously his entire family.”

Reflecting on his former teammate, Rodriguez spoke highly of Gardner’s character both on and off the field.

“Brett was someone who entered our team as a very young player, feisty. He was always like blue-collar, great work, fan favorite,” he recalled.

“He’s just a great, great competitor and a better human being.”

The sudden nature of Miller’s passing has left both the Gardner family and authorities searching for answers.

While initial reports suggested food poisoning, medical professionals have since ruled out choking or an allergic reaction.

Dr. Kevin Gannon, one of the first responders, described the situation as “very confusing” and noted that a clear cause of death has yet to be determined.

The baseball community continues to rally around the Gardners, offering condolences and support as they navigate this heartbreaking time.
