Kansas City Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy is turning the page on a turbulent month-and taking legal action in the process.
The wide receiver has filed a civil lawsuit against his former fiancée, Tia Jones, following his March 7 arrest in Texas over domestic violence allegations. Jones had accused Worthy of choking her during an argument, leading to a charge of assault on a family or household member.
But the case quickly shifted when the Travis County District Attorney announced they wouldn’t pursue charges, citing lack of evidence. Now, Worthy’s side of the story is coming into focus-and it’s complicated.
According to court filings, Worthy claims Jones not only fabricated the assault allegations but also physically attacked him, stole cash and valuables, and intentionally tried to harm his career. The lawsuit alleges this was all part of a calculated effort to damage his image and benefit personally from the fallout.
Instagram bio sparks speculation: “Woman of God”?
While the legal case plays out, fans and social media sleuths have taken the investigation into their own hands. One detail caught everyone’s attention: Tia Jones’ Instagram bio simply reads “Woman of God.“
The irony wasn’t lost on fans. With the serious allegations laid out in Worthy’s lawsuit-including claims of property destruction and false police reports-users across Twitter and Instagram questioned the contrast between the bio and the behavior described.
Worthy’s lawsuit is seeking damages for civil assault, battery, defamation, and theft-related violations under Texas law. His legal team claims the situation escalated after he discovered Jones had been unfaithful and asked her to leave his home.
Attorneys for Jones maintain that she has a protective order in place and is cooperating with law enforcement. They have not commented publicly on the civil case.
As Worthy prepares for his first NFL season in Kansas City, the spotlight is now just as focused on the courtroom as it is on the field.
