Through 28 seasons of the WNBA, 11 different teams have managed to become champions beginning with the Houston Comets back in 1997, who never lost in the Finals before the organization folded in 2008.

After finishing the regular season with the best WNBA record, this year New York Liberty finally managed to get its first WNBA championship after making the finals on five previous occasions.

Liberty defeated Minnesota Lynx, which is on the top of the pile of teams with the most titles, which they share with the Seattle Storm and the Houston Comets.

Lynx: 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017.

Storm: 2004, 2010, 2018, 2020.

Comets: 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000.

Los Angeles Sparks and Phoenix Mercury, Dallas Wings: Three titles

Sparks: 2001, 2002, 2016.

Mercury: 2007, 2009, 2014.

Wings: 2003, 2006, 2008.

Las Vegas Aces: Two titles

Aces: 2022, 2023.

Indiana Fever, Sacramento Monarchs, Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky: One title.

Fever: 2012.

Monarchs: 2005.

Mystics: 2019.
